I love working with other creative people – they inspire me so much. I love when the process is collaborative – it gives me new ideas and teaches me. Nate is a videographer + musician + artist and Dzung is a culinary genius. So we had fun adventuring for their engagement session in Palo Alto a few weeks ago.
And getting to hang out in coffee shops and playing in golden fields does not stink either.
Nate + Dzung – you guys are the bomb.com – I’m pretty excited for your wedding in September. It means a lot that you chose me.

feeling my way through the darkness
guided by a beating heart
i can’t tell where the journey will end
but i know where to start
Over the past few months I had the opportunity to start shooting some features for Taylor Sterling, co-founder of Glitter Guide.
I photographed her baby shower, her nursery makeover with Caitlin Flemming, and finally, her + Joey’s maternity session. I love that through this whole process, I also announced my own pregnancy, found out I was having a little girl too, and got to share in some of the same excitement that Taylor + Joey were experiencing preparing for Elodie.
On Friday, December 13th baby Elodie arrived in this world and I can’t believe it. She is perfect and beautiful and I can’t wait to squeeze her.
I love these maternity photos even more now, and I know Elodie is going to cherish these, seeing her mom + dad preparing for her so lovingly. I am so thankful to be a part of this process with my clients, and even more grateful when my clients become my friends.
Taylor + Joey – congratulations! I am so excited for the journey ahead of you and thankful that we get to share these things in the next few months together.
You can see more from Taylor + Joey’s maternity session over on Glitter Guide + Inspired by This!

When I take family portraits, I want real. I want to be in your house even if it’s messy. I want to play in your yard even if there’s weeds. I want to run around with the kids even if they are sassy and don’t want to smile or change their shirt.
Because that’s your family. That’s the realness. And it gets me fired up. I want to create something authentic and true and at the end of every day that’s what matters more to me than anything else.
Let’s play and be. It will be great, I promise. We don’t need to find the most epic location or find shirts that match.
The real you is more beautiful than any of that.
