This is where we laugh. Swim. Dance. Shuck corn to grill. Sleep in.
This place belongs to my grandparents, Kate + Charlie.
It used to belong to my great-grandparents Art + Frances.
And it will always belong to us.

The past two summers I have visited I have feared it would be my last.
It’s incredible what a profound effect the impermanence makes.
I have seen this place with new eyes. Eyes of gratitude and eyes of love.
This place isn’t just a place.
It is everything that is good about us.
And each image is my attempt to hold onto that good forever.

One day all I want to be able to say is that I left a legacy of love, just like my grandparents Kate + Charlie.
For them I am forever grateful.

Beautiful, Emily! Loved all of these images and your creative, loving insight. Thanks so much!!!
Em- these photos are breathtaking. So full of emotion. I can’t decide what I love most: your dad taking the photo with his flip phone, your grandparents holding hands, floating, the awesome floral couch (you better claim that as your own), or your grandpa cheering. In the end- I think it’s them floating together. Love it!
Em, these are SO special and ridiculously beautiful! What an amazing place!!
Wow! What incredible shots! You have such a talent of telling the story through photography, and I feel like I was there. I just about shriveled up when I saw the photo of your grandparents holding hands. You’re a talented lady, for sure!!
